INK Focus - Springfield House
We are excited to announce an important milestone for INK: the opening of our London HQ, Springfield House. Originally built in 1902, as a varnish factory, the 6000sqft space will host our team as well as providing room for us to extend and develop our services.
Over the last year, we worked closely with architects Marsh Keene to design and adapt the building into a bespoke state-of-the-art post-production facility. Our goal was simple, to create a space that would support the team and our clients in doing their best work as well as enabling creativity & collaboration to flourish.
In the hustle and bustle of Dalston, the contemporary and welcoming design of Springfield House provides a calm and serene oasis. We redesigned the building's central stairwell removing internal walls and replacing them with glass paneling, promoting an open and interconnected feeling of movement through the space. Breakout areas & meeting rooms throughout the building contribute to the warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The stills retouching suite was designed with an emphasis on calm and comfort, blackout blinds, carefully calibrated ambient lighting and acoustic panelling create a space free from distractions. The space accommodates up to 12 of the full-time team and has all the facilities that they need to excel, with hardwired 1gb fibre internet and top specification Mac Pro’s & Mac Studios throughout ensuring we are well equipped to handle the most challenging of projects.
The print viewing room contains ceiling mounted daylight lamps, providing a colour accurate viewing area of 4.5m x 3m allowing for optimal conditions for checking colour proofs and large format prints. It is also stocked with an array of printers and scanners including our GMG certified Epson Surecolor.
The production area contains modern furnishing, ample daylight, and an open layout centred around a single custom built desk creating an atmosphere of synergy, enabling the team to communicate and collaborate.
The ground floor serves as a versatile space, offering additional desks for production and retouching. It also doubles as a retouching area for private client sessions, as well as housing a conference room equipped with top-tier audiovisual technology, enabling seamless communication with clients worldwide.
A photo studio on the top floor grants us the ability to move seamlessly from shoots to post-production. Hardwood floors, 7 metre high lofted ceilings and large South and North facing windows cast ample natural light through the space. Lift access from street level, 3 phase power and private parking means we can house higher capacity productions as well as being able to quickly and efficiently produce pickup shoots for missing product or plates when required.
Our vision for Springfield House extends beyond INK's team and services, the top floor space has been granted a full alcohol licence and we plan on utilising it for events, talks, exhibitions, launches and more. We aspire for it to become a central hub within the East London creative community, a place where artists and innovators can gather and bring their visions to life.
